Loretta Kelley is an American player of the Hardanger fiddle, or hardingfele. The hardingfele is a Norwegian stringed instrument; it has four strings that are bowed like a violin and four or five sympathetic strings that resonate underneath. It is usually decorated with a carved scroll, pearl-inlaid fingerboard, and ink decorations around the instrument body.
