João and Ramiro Mendes were born in the small village of Palokon on Fogo Island, Cape Verde. They emmigrated to the United States in 1978 and founded a group that played music in a typical of Cape Verde and Angola style. They have released 3 albums Bandera, Palonkon, and Torri Di Control.
