Nels Cline (guitarist of The Nels Cline Singers, Scarnella, Mike Watt, + duet partner with Thurston Moore, Zeena Parkins, Gregg Bendian, Vinny Golia, etc.) & Devin Sarno (the solo bassist behind CRIB & founding member of the seminal L.A. art-prog band Waldo The Dog Faced Boy) began experimenting together in a live concert context in 1994, fueled by a mutual appreciation for "on-the-spot" sonic sculpting.
