Philip’s grandparents were musicians, and in the 1940s they had a dance band, his grandmother played the piano and his grandfather the cello. Philip’s grandmother was also a music teacher and regularly played the organ in churches. Despite Philip being very close to his grandmother; Philip showed no interest or aptitude in music as a child.
