At first a song writing collaboration between two original members turned song writer's collective, Wax & Wane eventually evolved into a more formal performing band in Baltimore during the winter of 2003 and settled on a consistent roster of four members. On the band's first self-released EP, aptly named Winter for the season it was written in and later released, was a collection of 9 songs evenly written and led by each member of the group, a precedent for Wax & Wane backed up on their latest recordings.
